We've had a tradition for years of opening our Christmas Stockings, and a gift of books and pj's on Christmas Eve. Then we wear our PJ's all morning on Christmas Day. The thing is that this tradtion is a bit awkward with guests in our home, which we will have this year.....so we've begun a new tradition. I've purchased little gifts and we've been enjoying them each Sunday night of Advent.
This week I had planned to buy "Christmas" t-shirts for each of us. The problem is that the Family Christian store sold out of shirts for the youngest three. We made do.

Mike and the older 3 boys got these

Arielle and I got these

The Dynamic Duo got these

Stacia got this one in honor of the local Nutcracker

Ah, another Sunday of reading, praying, and giving comes to an end.

We've picked up 3 gifts for each of the girls...hopefully they'll receive them before they GET HERE! They'll be here for the 4th Sunday in Advent....wooHOO!

That's a nice new tradition.
What amazes me is how much our now very big teenagers still love our family traditions! (Like the book and pjs one on Christmas Eve, which we have always done too!)
I had to laugh at the shopping thing. Mine love Christmas Shopping Day each year. Fortunately, we only have one day! {g} Jamie and I take one kid each and meet for lunch and then swap. It's fun, but tiring.
I bet your kids love those special days alone with you. What a loving mum you are to give them the gift of your time.
Dorothy - it IS amazing, isn't it? It was one of our bigger boys that said Jotham "made" the season for him. LOL
Someday we will be down to being able to do a SHOPPING DAY - ONE as you do and I'm looking forward to it - sounds lovely.
Last year we did most of it online - I thought they LIKED that but it appears they were just being nice to me because Mike was overseas. LOL
DeEtta,
I wouldn't count on you EVER having just one shopping day at Christmas!
I bet you'll be volunteering to take various grandchildren out for the day by the time you're down to one or two children still at home!!!{vbg}
De'Etta - I like this Advent tradition. This year we're doing daily Advent Calendars for each of the children. Little gifts, trinkets and treats. It's fun and the kids LOVE opening their daily box. Next year I want to bring back the spiritual aspect of it all and incorporate some special gifts. I like the idea of doing that each Sunday.
Thanks, as always, for sharing your heart and home with us. :)

Dorothy - hmmm...
Kathy - my pleasure. We've never done an Advent calendar - and I'm not feeling led to do so...but this weekly thing is fun and working well...building excitement and at the same time keeping the littles out of the gifts as they know they'll get something on Sunday. LOL
It's also an easy one for us to include the girls in....
All the shirts are great. I think I need to get those funny naughty brother shirts for my little boys. LOL
Walmart - boys dept, Jodi. They had a great "For Unto us a Savior is born" tshirt in the women's section yesterday.....there are advantages to shopping daily, I'm finding. LOL
